JOIN TERRITORIAL ARMY AS AN OFFICER

The Territorial Army offers gainfully employed young men an opportunity of donning the uniform and serving the Nation. It is based on the concept ol enabling able-bodied motivated young men to spend time in a military environment without having to sacrifice their primary professions. You can serve the Nation in two capacities – as a civilian and as a soldier. No other option allows you such an expanse of experiences.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS:
Only MALE citizens of India and Ex-Service officers of the three Services who are medically fit.
Age: Between 18 and 42 years as on 15 March 2010.
Qualification: Graduate from a recognised University.
Employment: Gainfully employed in Central Govt/Semi Govt./Pvt. Firm/Own Business.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:

• Commission is granted in ihe rank of Lieutenant.
• Pay and Allowances and privileges will be same as Regular Army Officers when embodied for training and military service.
• Promotions up to Lt. Col. by time scale subject to fulfilling laid down eligibility criteria. Promotion to the rank of Colonel and Brigadier by selection.
• Service in Territorial Army is purely based on PART TIME concept and hence does not provide PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT. However, Officers commissioned in TA Infantry may be called out for military service for longer duration, depending on requirement.

EMBODIMENT FOR TRAINING:

• One month Recruit Training with unit in the first year of commission.
• Three months Basic Military Training at TA Training School preferably in the first year of Commission.
• Three months Post Commission Training at IMA Dehradun, preferably in the first year of Commission.
• Two months Annual Training Camp in subsequent years if not embodied.

CIVILIAN CANDIDATES

APPLICATION FORMS:
All desirous civilian candidates may request tor issue of blank application form by forwarding a self-addressed envelope of 28 x 12 cms size and Postal Stamps worth Rs. 12/- affixed on envelope along with a Postal Order of Rs. 10/- and brief BIO-DATA to include details about employment in Central Govt./Semi Govt./Pvt. Firm/Own Business with monthly income from all sources.
Candidates belonging to the undermentioned States should apply to their respective TA Gp HO as indicated below:

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The candidates are screened by a Preliminary Interview Board (PIB) held at all TA Group Headquarters. Successful candidates are then required to further undergo a Service Selection Board (SSB) and Medical Board before final selection.
EX-SERVICE OFFICERS AS CANDIDATES APPLICATION FORMS:
Ex-Service Officers as candidates of the three Services may apply for blank
application forms and submit the same at the following address by forwarding a self-addressed envelope of 28 x 12 cms size and postal stamps worth Rs. 12/- affixed on envelope along with a Postal Order of Rs. 10/- and brief Bio-Data to include details about employment in Central GovUSemi Govt./Pvt. SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The candidates are screened by an Army HO Selection Board (ASB) held at Addl. Dte. Gen. TA, Army HO, ‘L’ Block, New Delhi, which is followed by a Medical Board for successful candidates.
LAST DATE:
Request for blank application form should reach concerned address by 15 February 2010.
Form duly completed in all respects with all its enclosures will be accepted till 15 March 2010 only at respective TA Gp HQ.
NOTE:

• Decision of Army HQ as to the eligibility of a candidate or otherwise shall be final.
• Application form should be accompanied by the latest physical fitness certificate from a registered MBBS Doctor.
• Self Employed candidates or having Own Business are required to submit an affidavit on Non-Judicial stamp paper value Rs. 10/- duly attested by the Deputy Commissioner of the District/Gazetted Officer/Commissioned Officer as per Section B(2) of application form stating nature of self employment and income earned annually with the attested photocoy of the latest Income Tax Return filed by the applicant along with photocopy of the PAN Card.
• Only Ex-Service Officers of the three Services can directly obtain and deposit their application forms atTA Dte., AHQ. New Delhi. The application forms should be accompanied by copy of Record of Service along with Course Reports of the courses done while in reg service and Release Medical Board.
• Incomplete application will be rejected without intimation.
• Application forms of all candidates i.e. both civilian and ex-service officers who are employed with Central Govt/Semi GovtJPvt. Firm will be accompanied by a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their respective organisation heads and the same will also be endorsed at Section B(i ).B(2)’B(3) as applicable, of page 9 to 11 of application form accordingly, otherwise application from will be rejected.
• Request for issue of blank application form may be forwarded directly to the concerned TA Gp HQ.
• Postal Order should not be purchased before January 2010.
• Please clearly write your contact numbers i.e. Mobile and Land Line on blank portion on the top of the first page of the application form.

(i) Blank application forms can also be obtained from TA units located in your area by paying postal order of Rs. 10/- payable to respective TA Gp HQ.
